Hail & Ghasha Project
Introduction
The development of Hail & Ghasha fields is of strategic importance to Abu Dhabi to support the rapid increase in population and industrial growth in the country.
Both fields are situated offshore Abu Dhabi in water depths of 0 to 15 meters within the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve. The reserve is home to important marine and coastal ecosystems hosting 60% of the second largest population of dugongs in the world. The reserve is managed by the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi.
Hail Gas Field Overview
The Hail field is located approximately 100 km to the west of Abu Dhabi Island. Five (5) wells were drilled in the Hail area and so far economical quantities of gas and condensate been proven.
The field is covered by 3D Seismic which has commenced in 2014 to delineate the Arab and Khuff formations.
Ghasha Gas Field Overview
The Ghasha field is located approximately 130 km west of Abu Dhabi in 3-15m of water depth. Fourteen (14) wells have been drilled and evaluated in the field area. Many of the wells have tested the Arab intervals, but the field remains undeveloped.
Technical Evaluation Agreement with Occidental.
In February 2015, ADNOC and Occidental Oil and Gas International signed a Technical Evaluation Agreement (TEA) to continue Hail and Ghasha 3D Seismic and appraisal activities in addition to deliver Full Field Development Plan to produce first gas by 2020.
